Activated Alumina (Actief Aluminiumoxide)

Activated Alumina (Actief Aluminiumoxide)

White to cream-colored spherical beads with a very high surface area (up to 415 m²/g), ideal for gas dewatering and the removal of specific ions.

Activated alumina is made by calcining bauxite and treating it to create thousands of tiny pores. However, each tiny bead has an internal surface area of up to 415 square meters. That’s equivalent to the surface area of a soccer field packed into a ball the size of a marble!

This enormous surface area makes alumina exceptionally well-suited for adsorbing water molecules and certain dissolved ions. It is thermally stable up to very high temperatures, making it ideal for applications involving cyclic heating and cooling.

Unlike silica gel, alumina does not expand in volume when it absorbs water, so it does not crumble or break apart in beds.
